SCOUTS’ JAMBOREE

GREETING TO DUKE. (Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Asan.—Copyright.) (Recd. August 1, 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. The Duke of Connaught, was greeted by the Scout yell from 50,000 voices in 50 languages, when he opened the world jamboree to-day. Addressing the boys, he said that jt was an ennobling spectacle to see 2,000,000 lads of every race and creed, imbued with the same ideal and bearing aloft the same banner of mutual service and brotherhood. The Scour movement was one of the greatest landmarks of the age, and it will add the name of the founder to the roll of the world’s reformers. 1
