ENGLAND WINS RUBBER
AN INNINGS VICTORY FREEMAN BEST BOWLER (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received. July 31, 11 a.m.) LONDON, July 30. In the Test match, England won by an innings and thirty-two runs. England’s victory came after a stubborn defence, notably by Taylor and Cameron. The pitch was. lifeless. Freeman was the only, consistently troublesome bowler, again* suggesting the poverty of the English attack. Quinn batted a hundred minutes, a fine feat for a man generally going in tenth. He helped to add 53 runs. Taylor, when in the fifties, was missed by Geary. He went out to the worst ball he received, hitting a full toss to Leyland. His score included seven fours. Morkel started uncomfortably. Owen ’ Smith, just before going in, received a cablegram announcing his father’s death. He was sympathetically cheered when he appearead. Cameron hit freely, and Deane, who is usually impetuous, backed up steadily. Rain caused a stoppage of play for an hour, after which the wet ball assisted the batsmen.. Cameron skied an easy catch. He batted for 125 minutes, and hit one six and ten fours.
