WALLSEND MINE
SATISFACTORY PROGRESS One hundred and four men are now employed at the Wallsend Aline, where operations were recently resumed, and the progress made is regarded as very satisfactory by the directors of the Brunner Collieries, Ltd., who held a meeting at the mine yesterday. There were present: Messrs G. J. D. Stitt (managing director), C. N. Taylor, J. F. Jack, I. fl Patterson, J. S. Robertson, and F. H. Bass (secretary). Satisfaction was expressed with the progress the mine had made, the production having reached 12,000 tons since the opening at the end of March. The daily average output is now in ( the region of 250 tons, and is likely to increase in the near future.
It was stated that the output of the mine is finding a ready sale, thus proving its quality. The bulk of the screened coal ha® been taken by the Railways Department, and is giving every satisfaction. The reopening of the mine has already been reflected in the building activities at the surrounding townships, and the prospects generally are regarded as being very bright.
