DRUIDIC INSTALLATION
STAR OF THEAVEST LODGE.
Just on 100 members of the Druids’ Order assembled at the Lodge Room last evening for the installation cereniony. P.A. Bro. W. Sampson presided. Inward and outward correspondence was dealt with and the surgeons report read and received, £26/2/0 sick pay being passed for payment. Eight propositions for membership were received. District President Bros. R. A. Barrowman, assisted by P.D.P. Bros. J. Saunders then installed the following officers into their stations: —A.D., Bro. R. B. Tennent; V.A., Bro. I. Steel; Sec. P.G.P Bro. J. Tennent; 1.G., Bro. L. Patterson; 0.G., P.A. Bro. C. G. Patterson: A.D.B.’s Bros. S. Hayden and J. Stokes; VA.B.’s Bros. E. V. Ellery and P. B. Rathbun; M.C., P.D.P. Bro. J. Guy; M.S., P.A. Bro. H. Herring; Custodian, Bro. C. Sheehan; Pianist, Bro. E. Yates.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, which was conducted by the D.P. in a most impressive manner, a vote of Officer. Bro. Barrowman suitably Office,. Bro. Barrowman suitably acknowledged the vote. As the retiring Arch Druid, Bro. C. G. Patterson was then presented by the D.P. with a P.A. Colllar and framed diploma as a token of the Lodge’s esteem. Bro. Patterson having returned thanks for the gifts, the meeting concluded, and members adjourned to the banquet room. Arch Druid Bro. R. B. Tennent occupied fhe Chair and opened proceedings with the toast of “The King and the Order.” P.D.P. Bro. J. Guy then toasted “Grand "Lodge of Druids,” which was responded to by D.P. Bro. Barrowman and P.A. Bro. Booth, both of whom delivered very interesting addresses, which were greatly appreciated. Other toasts were: “Our District President,” proposed by P.G.P. Bro. J. Tennent and responded to by Bro. Barrowman; “Newly Installed Officers,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. E. Ashton and responded to by all the officers; “Our Visitors,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. J. Saunders, responded to by P.A. Bro. Mitchell (Reefton), F.A. Bro. Turner and Sister Ballinger (Westland), and A.D. Bro. Douglas (Seddon). “The Ladies,” proposed by the Arch Druid and responded to by Bros. Booth, Myer, and Bowes. During the evening musical items were rendered by Bros. Machejefeski, Myer, Isherwood Ashton, Brown, Mosley, Herring and Yates.
The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem concluded one of the most enjoyable functions ever held in the Lodge.
