COMMITTEEMAN CONVICTED.

AUCKLAND, May 14. ‘ Prosecuted by the Auckland Education Board on a charge of upbraiding, insulting, and abusing Edwin Ross, school teacher, at the Mataitai School, in the hearing of the pupils, J. R. McCrae, a member of the School Committee, and a farmer, was fined £5, with costs, by Mr Hunt, S.M. The trouble arose over the blocking of a drain. It was stated that accused used bad language and struck Ross in the face.
