COAL INDUSTRY. SYDNEY, April 18. The Coal Miners’ Federation issued a statement at the conclusion of the Coal Conference to-day, when the negotiations for a settlement of the dispute completely broke down. The Federation declares: It is quite apparent that the owners will agree to the re-opening of the mines only on their own-terms, to which the miners will not agree. The Federal tion have reiterated their challenge to the mine owners for a searching inquiry into the coal industry.
