HOSPITALS CLAIM

- - INTERESTING TEST CASE. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 17. In the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court, to-day, the North Canterbury Hospital Board claimed from Dr. C. H. Upham the sum of £3B, for services rendered by the pathological department at the hospital. The decision of j the Court in the case will be interesting and important. Dr. Upham sent a swab to the hospital for testing. The Board contended that it did the work for the doctor, but the doctor claims he was only an agent, and that the Board should collect the sum due from the patient. It was sated that similar actions had been threatened against two other doctors, but the cases had been settled out of Court.
