SUNKEN SCHOONER

I PROSECUTION POSTPONED (Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn. —Copyright.) NEW YORK, April 2. A message from New Orleans states that the second postponement of the preliminary hearing of the charge of conspiracy against the “I’m Alone” crew, was ordered to-day by the United States Commissioner Carter, after conferring with United States Attorney Talbot. The additional week’s postponement was made just before the crew were to be examined to-day.

WASHINGTON, April 2. Attorney-General Mitchell states that the postponement of the New Orleans “I’m Alone” hearing, was due to the request of the Justice Department, to permit time for further inquiries. It is asserted that the Department will not drop the prosecution of the “I’m Alone’s captain and crew, unless investigation now under way, fails to disclose any evidence of law violation. The Department’s complete report on the Coast Guard’s pursuit of the vessel and. the finding on the legality of the sinking would be transmitted to the State Department, within twenty-four hours.
