JOCKEY INJURED

VICTORIA PARK MISHAP.

An accident occurred on the trotting track at Victoria Park shortly before four o’clock yesterday afternoon. Mr Charles Wasley was riding Mr T. P. Lalor’s aged grey mare Queen’s Ferry round the southern bend, when she stumbled and fell heavily, throwing the rider forward on his head. He was picked up unconscious, but partially recovered and was removed to the Grey Hospital where it was found that he was suffering from concussion. It was reported to-day that his condition was unchanged, and that he did not have a good night. Queen’s Ferry, which is by Harold Dillon —Sweet Agnes, was injured and remains down near where she fell. Outwardly the only injury is a grazed near fore leg, and on veterinary advice a shelter has been built over the mare, as it is hoped to save her. Queen’s Ferry was nominated for the Mawhera and Kaiata trotting races at the forthcoming Greymouth J.C. meeting.
