Mr and Mrs A. Warnes, who have been on a short visit to Christchurch, returned on Saturday.

A Paris cablegram, announced the death of General Sarrail. He was prominent in the Great War.

Mr F. Gibens. of Westport succeeds Mr K. M. Pavitt as accountant at the Chief Post Office, Westport.

The death is announced from Melbourne of Lady McPherson, wife of the Victoria Premier. She died after a long illness.

Mr B. N. Sandilands, of Feilding, will act as Stipendiary Steward for the Greymouth Races, and Mr J. Torrance as Racecourse Inspector.

Mrs A. E. Leggett, Christchucrh, arrived on Saturday, on a visit to her mother, Mrs H. Kyle, Raleigh Street. She was accompanied by Miss C. Kyle, who has been visiting Christchurch.

Mr. J. A. Blank, who has resigned from the position of attendance officer under the Canterbury Education Board, has been on the board’s staff for thirty-three years.

Mr W. T. Harbison, of the G.P.O. staff, Wellington, is to be supervisor of the clerical branch at the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, vice Mr J. Sullivan appointed postmaster at Leeston.

Recent arrivals at the Albion Hotel include: Mr and Mrs Page (Wellington), Mrs and Miss Wight (Auckland). Mr and Mrs Digby, Miss Cook, Mr Aicken, Mr Ewart, Mr Godden, Mr R. Stewart, Mr Broadfoot, Mr Barker (Christchurch), Mr L. Adams (Auckland), Cherry (Dunedin).

On the evening of Tuesday, March 19, All Saints’ Church, Nelson, was the scene of the wedding of Dr. Helen Easterfield, daughter of Professor and Mrs Easterfield, of Nelson, and Mr. J. S. Longton Deem, elder son of Mr. and Mrs J. W. Deem, of Wanganui. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Nelson, assisted by Archdeacon Dart.
