There was another remarkable watermain burst in the West End apparently due to traffic vibration. Wood blocks were heaved up over a long stretch of roadway at Lancaster Gate, and soon a river was flowing alongside Hyde Park, where the basements of houses rapidly filled, necessitating a policy of rally to arouse the tenants.
