RUNANGA NOTES

The St. Thomas’s Sunday School picnic was held at Kumara Beach on Saturday. The day was glorious and a large crowd had collected by nine o’clock, at (Ward’s Garage, from where the buses were to leave. The outing was a huge success and was enjoyed by everyone. The bicycle race held on Sunday, from Runanga to the Seven Mile and back, was well patronised. Although it was raining, a large number of spectators were out to see the race. There were thirteen starters. The winners were: James 1, time 16min 2sec. (a record) ; O’Donnell 2, time 18min 22sec; Jack /Pender 3, time 19min 20sec. Miss E. Coulthard arrived on Saturday from Blenheim. The Old Time Dance, held on Saturday night, was well patronised. The dance next Saturday is to be half-and-half.
The condition of Mr J. Livesay is causing his friends and relations anxiety. . , . 1 . Mr J. Durie, accompanied by his mother, will be arriving shortly on a visit to Mrs J. Connel. Mr W. Dando will arrive on Tuesday from Sefton, and will be thei guest of Mr and Mrs W- McTaggart.
