LITTLE GIRL’S FEET CUT OFF.

TE AROHA, January 11.

A shocking accident occurred during haymaking operations on A. Lennard s farm at Waihou yesterday. Dismounting from her pony, fiis daughter, Betty, aged eight, walked towards the machine. Her father was 'driving. The latter was negotiating a difficult piece of land near a drain, and was unaware of the presence of his daughter until she unknowingly stepped directly in the path of the machine, the blades of which cleanly severed both her feet at the ankles. The little sufferer was rushed to Te Arolia, where after hurried emergency treatment, an operation was performedShe is now progressing satisfactorily.
