DOG ATTACKS WOMAN
RESCUE BY DAUGHTER. Presence of mind of a 17-year-old girl, Irene Elsie Williams, saved the life of her mother when she was attacked in her home at Wagga (New South Wales) by a dog. The dog, a pet , animal, suddenly dashed from the back verandah into the dining room, and attacked Mrs Williams, who was taken by surprise. First the animal bit her severely, and then dashed for her throat. He missed, but bit her on the chest. The daughter then tackled the dog, beating him off with a chair, and afterwards seizing him by the neck. She lifted her mother, who was growing very weak, on the table. The dog then turned on ‘the daughter, and she had to climb a table in the hall. After the dog had kept the daughter and the mother prisoners on the tables for some time, the daughter dashed off the table, opened the back door, and with a chaii- forced the dog outside. When the father came home he killed the animal.
