BLACKBALL CEMETERY.
(To the Editor.)
. sir, —I consider the time has arrived ■vVhen the general public of this district should know more about Cemetery control. There are supposed to be three trustees. A few years ago it was the same as now, left to one. At that meeting three new ones were appointed' and it also came to light there was no balance sheet and no audit. Now I consider it is the duty of the only remaining trustee to call a public meeting and see whether the public of this district will appoint two others or get the County Council to take control. They have control of the others in the district, and I favour them taking control for several reasons. They would print an annual balance sheet, therefore the public would know the revenue and expenses, and as more ground will be required soon and no revenue in hand, it would mean subscriptions etc., but under the Council this would be done and the cost would be met by the sale of plots as time went on. I could give more instances in connection with same, but space forbids, and I trust the Trustee will call a public meeting on any afternoon, and open to all. The expense would be nil and the public could then decide what action they would take. — Yours etc.
W. R. MacD. Blackball, January 11.
