While practising prior to the threelegged race at McGinley Park on Boxing Day, Allan Evans, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs Arthur Evans of Blaketown, fell and received injuries to his nose. He was treated at the Greymouth Hospital, but his death occurred yesterday. An inquest was held this afternoon before Mr. F. 11. Kilgour, Acting-Coroner, and a jury of four. Medical evidence was to the effect that the boy had an enlarged thymus gland, and any sudden shock might cause convulsions, resulting in death. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. A fuller report of the inquest will appear in to-morrow’s “Star.”
