(Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA, December 10. About live minutes to four o’clock yesterday a. shock of earthquake was felt, lasting several seconds. The direction of the shake was east to west. The privileges for the Racing and Trotting Meetings at Hokitika were submitted to public auction by Mr Houston on Saturday afternoon. The 1 Nos. 1 and 2 booths for the race meeting were bought by Mr Ave Dowell at £56 10s each, and Mr D. Dowell bought the rights ,of the sweets stall for* £9Mr Ave Dowell was also the purchaser of the two booths lor the Trotting * Meeting, giving £2B each for them. Mr McMillan secured the sweets stall for £4 10s and Mr Richards the cards for £ll.
