CHILDREN’S SHOW

SPORTS PROGRAMME RESULTS. Despite the unsettled, weather conditions the sports programme in connection with the first Children’s Annual A. and P. Show, held on Saturday, was run off, <an excellent day’s sport being presented. Under the control of Pro. Tarcisius (Marist), Mr J. Hutton (Technical High Sdhool), Mr S. Lorking (Grey Main School) and other school teachers, the lengthy list of events was gone through. Both girls and boys’ sections of the programme drew good entries and provided inteiesting racing. Unfortunately the adverse weather conditilons resulted in only a fair public attendance. A meritorious performance during the races was that of Lawrence Wilson, a Technical High School boy, who won the 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards open events, and was one of the winning team in the open relay. Thanks of the Association go to all those who helped to run the Show, ineluding Mrs E. M. Wray and schoolteachers, and to the Blackball Pipe Band, who gave their services gratis to the Show on both occasions. Mrs Wray in particular has done much to put the Show on the footing of an annual event- Despite unfortunate weather conditions, the Show Committee are more than pleased with the educational success of the function, which was one of the primary aims of the movementThe results of the sports events follow : Boys under 9, 75 yards —J.
