POISON GAS
LORD HALSBURY’S ESTIMATE. (Australian Press Association) (By Cable—Press Assn. —Copyright.) LONDON, December 7. Making mathematical calculations, Lord Halsbury, addressing a peace meeting in London, estimated that the theoretical quantity of mustard gas — the deadliest of all poison gases—required to wipe out London, would be forty-two tons. He said that was a mere fleabite to what could be brought over London in twelve hours. In other words, every man, woman and child in London might fail t-o live in half a day. The only safeguard consisted of reprisals, and they Should let the world know they were prepared to make them.
