AMUSEMENTS

OPERA HOUSE,

In his latest picture, Jackie Coogan takes to the sea on a huge modern liner as page or bell boy. His nickname, “Buttons,” is the title given to the picture. Jackie first conies into view trying to stow away on a crack Atlantic liner, but a kindly captain sentences him not to gaol, but to a i training school. “Buttons” will be i screened at the Opera House this even ing. THE “NEW REVEILLE.” Those who remember the last occasion on which Mr W. Lints produced his “Reveille” in Greymouth recall with pleasure the staging of what must undoubtedly have been one of the finest amateur shows ever staged ii; Greymouth. The “New Reveille” which opens at the Town Hall to-night, for a season of seven nights, is, if possible, superior to the former production. In this particular class of work, Mr Lints is a genius, as the manner in which he has trained the 160 performers, until they have reached a standard that would do credit to any professional entertainers, well bears out. The performers themselves have spared no efforts in perfecting their various parts, and the past few weeks has been a strenuous time for them, but their reward will come in the spontaneous enthusiasm that will greet each item. Its great ensembles, beautiful costuming, its spectacular detail and scenic splendour; its beautiful music; its wonderful revolving electrical effects; its haunting melodies; its bewitching ballets; its topicalities and its magnificent cast, combine to make it the costliest production that has yet been offered to Greymouth theatregoers. The proceeds will be devoted to the local tennis clubs. /
