NURSE DISMISSED

AUCKLAND, Nov. 16.
Unusual circumstances were connected With the summary dismissal of a nurse from the Auckland Hospital fdt sending an -indiscreet letter to a prisoner in Mt. Eden gaol. / A petition was signed by a number of nurses at the institution for a reconsideration of the case but eventually it was decided not to go- on with ‘it. ' . The Board’s chairman stated to-day that a 'prisoner had been receiving treatment at the hospital, and when ’he returned to gaol, the nurse seht him a letter allegedly containing reflections on the matron. The gaol authorities intercepted it, and showed it to the Medical Superintendent. The matter then came before the Board, which decided to dismiss the nurse.
* The ‘ Superintendent stated that the nurse had remove’d the fasteners from her window, confirming a statement in her letter that she had been coming into the nurses’ home at 1.30 in the morning.
