WILKINS EXPEDITION

SATISFACTORY PROGRESS (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received November 13, 1 p.m.) LONDON, November 12. Wilkins wirelessed from Deception Island on November 10, via Port Stanley, and signed Wilkins: — “Our American monoplane Los Angeles with which Eilson flew over the North Polo was to-day the first complete aeroplane to touch Antarctic soil on Deception Island. The Hekt.oria upholding her name, entered the harbour on the sixth, anchored, and then was moored to the beach with six seven-inch hawsers, preparing to withstand the customary November storms, but so far fine weather prevails, enabling everyone, from the captain to the mess boy and the expeditioners to busy themselves during every waking hour.”
