NAVAL LIMITATIONS

ARRESTED JOURNALIST.

(United Service.)

PARIS, October 11. M. Berthelot does not hide the fact that the action of Mr Horan; the journalist, entails an extremely grave responsibility, says: ‘ ‘Le Petit Parisien,” in recording the fact that M. Bertheloe has informed M. Briand that full light will be thrown on the affair, and that a communique containing the complete results of the investigations made will be published. Mr Bird, Chairman of the AngloAmerican Press Association, according to “Le Journal,” says: “The Association was not aware of a police inquiry when it met. Our committee has now no reason to intervene. Yesterday we were moved at seeing our colleague, Mr Horan, arrested in the street like a common thief. To-day we realise that it is not for us to intervene in the inquiry, whidh affects no one but the French police.”

HORAN ELUDES POLICE.

(Recd. Oct. 12, at noon.) PARIS, October 11.

The Anglo-American Press Association is dissatisfied with Horan’s explanation, and has decided to expel him. The Committee considers that Horan on several occasions acted contrary to professional dignity. The police, on going to Horan’s residence to ascertain why he did not attend the renewed inquiry this morning, found he had departed for an unknown destination. They ordered the frontiers to be watched. Later they learned he had arrived in Brussels’, and was leaving for England.
