MEETINGS
PLUNKET SOCIETY.
At the monthly meeting of the Greymouth Plunket' Society, there were present: Mesdames Dennehy (President), O. McLean, Carmine, Black, Robertson, Phillips, Aiderton, Schaef, Moore, Harvey, O’Brien, Seddon, Garde, and Miss Meikle. Apologies were received from Mesdames Carter and Greenslade. Mrs Barrett was granted three months’ leave of absence.
One account, Karitane Products Society, Ltd., Wellington, £34/13/9, was passed for payment. A letter was received from Plunket members in Reefton, forwarding donation of £32/17/8, proceeds of sale of work, etc., held recently. The Central Council forwarded Government half-yearly subsidy of £62/10/-. A donation of £2l/4/1 was received from the Brighter Greymouth and Golden West Rebekah Lodges, being part of the proceeds of the recent Poster Ball.
The Town Clerk, Brunner, forwarded a donation of £5/5/- from the Brunner Borough Council. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks for the donations. The President and Hon. Secretary submitted a report of the general conference held in Wellington at the end of August.
Nurse Spring reported as follows: — Headquarters: Visits to homes, new cases 27, old cases 113; visits to office, adults 213, babies 116, older children 38 —total 367. Out-stations: Visits to homes, new cases 7, old cases 74; visits to office, adults 17, babies 15, older children s—total5 —total 37. During the month visits were paid to Hokitika, Reefton, Runanga, Blackball, Dobson, Brunner, Paroa, Hari Hari, and Waiho Gorge.
