NEW YORK, September 26.

A technicality may restore freedom to Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold, the youthful murderers of the schoolboy Franks, who were sentenced to imprisonment for life.

Al. the trial of the two youths the Judge wished to make certain that, they would enter the prison for ever, so he designated the sentence 9!) years and life. ’l'he law officially recognises life imprisonment as a. longer term l imn 99 years, and, as both run concurrently, the law- applies the life imprisonment rule, and ignores the 99 years. Under the life term, therefore, they become eligible to parole at Christmas 1934, according to the chairman of the Pardon Board. They are to-day occupying the most, choice positions available to trusted prisoners.
