N.Z. BOWLERS

“A WONDERFUL TRIP.”

tPress Association.)

AUCKLAND, October 8

The first members of the New Zealand bowling team to return home after the tour of the British Isles, the Continent and Canada, arrived by the Niagara to-day. Including the wives of the players, the party on the vessel numbered 27. After the tour of Canada, about half the company went south to California for more bowling, and they are there now. Four or five members will return to Wellington by the Makura on her next trip, and others will come at their leisure. All are agreed that the tour has been most enjoyable and the event of a lifetime. “It was a wonderful trip,” said Mr R. Eagleton, “and I think that on the whole our standard of bowling is just as good as any we met on the tour.”

Mr Eagleton commented on the extraordinary variety of greens which they experienced, the range being from good to indifferent and bad. He paid a tribute to the hospitality everywhere accorded.
