MAIN TRUNK MISHAP

GOODS TRUCK DERAILED.

(Press Association.)

MARTON, October 9. When the northbound goods train which leaves Marton at four o’clock, was nearing Mangonoho Station, about six o’clock last evening, a truck became derailed. Before the engine crew were aware of it, eight others followed. The train was brought to a standstill before much damage was done to the track. Breakdown gangs worked hard to clear the track, but it was necessary to delay both the northbound expresses at Marton. The ordinary express arrived at six o’clock, and was held until 2.38 this morning, being joined with the Limited, which arrived at eleven p.m. The service is now normal.
