At the ladies’ golf tournament, the Mellsop Cup, which ranks next to the championship in importance, and is decided on the medal scores in the Coronation Competition of the Ladies’ Golf Union Challenge Bowl and Donnelly Cup, was Avon by Miss Kay, with a total of 246, and Miss Culling was second Avith 254.

The district teams match resulted in a win for Auckland A team, consisting of Miss Payton, Miss Culling, Mrs Hosking, and Mrs Deighton, whose total was 351. Wellington A team was second with 354. The Donnelly Cup was won by Mrs Buttle with a score of 85—11—74. The prize for the best score by a player with a handicap of 12 or more was won by Mrs C. J. Green 89—14— AUCKLAND, October 3. Golf semi-finals: Miss D. Chyrstall (Chch.) beat Miss B. Gaisford (Marton) 1 up at the 19th. Mrs Guv Williams (Masterton) beat Miss O. Kay (St. Clair) 4/3 . UNION’S ANNUAL MEETING. AUCKLAND, October 3. Delegates representing forty clubs attended last night’s meeting of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union. Th© annual report showed that 112 clubs were affiliated, compared with 99 in the previous year, and there was a substantial profit on the year’s workings. Mrs. H. C. Mellsop was re-eelcted President, and Miss M. Payton secretary. It was decided to hold the 1929 championships at Shirley links, Christchurch. The Coronation Medal match, on home links, was fixed for the last Aveek of May.

In the first round of the English Women’s Golf Championship at Wal-ton-on-Heath, Mrs Herbert Guedello, (Miss Edith Leitch),, the holder of tho title,, defeated Mrs Cecily Lascelles, an ex-Melbournite, two up and one.
