FATALLY BURNT
HOSPITAL “NEGLECT” CHARGE

NEW PLYMOUTH, October 3
At the inquest on the body of a boy, Leo Hobman, who died in hospital on September 26, as the result of burns received on May 18, the charge was made by the father of neglect by the hospital staff to dress the wounds for a period of nine days. Medical evidence showed that the usual treatment was followed. The Medical Superintendent _ expressed surprise that the boy survived his wounds more than two days. The Coroner accepted the medical evidence, and found tlwt death was due to chronic toxema.
FALL INTO HOT POOL.
ROTORUA, October 3.
A girl, Iris Iringa, aged six years, daughter of C. H. Hayward, fell backwards into a hot pool yesterday morning, after jumping across it- She was pulled out by her mother immediately, and taken to the King George V. Hospital. She died from. shock at 10.15 a.m. to-dav.
