COW IN THE SQUARE.
(Special to “Star.”)
CHRISTCHURCH, September 27. Loping along unperturbed by clanging trams and other traffic noises, a black and white cow, in charge of herself, kept strictly to the left as she made her way through Cathedral Square at 9.30 a.m. to-day. The Traffic Inspector on point duty at the Bank of New Zealand corner blinked as he saw the cow approach/ and gave the approved “Come on” signal. Two horns had the cow, but neither could she sound. She gave a low bellow, and went past with a boijnd. MINISTER’S RESIGNATION. The congregation at St. George’s Presbyterian Churdh, Linwood, received a surprise at the service on Sunday morning, when the minister. Rev. John V. Jacobson, announced with the ordinary announcements of the day, he was considering resigning from the charge. Instead of giving a sermon, Mr Jacobson spoke briefly on the problems of the church, and pronounced the benediction. In the evening, Mr Jacobson met the Kirk Session of St. George’s, and placed his resignation in its Jiands. The question, however, is not definitely settled yet, as the resignation has to be considered by the Christchurch Presbytery. ' ' . To a reporter, Mr Jacobson said there was no special problem or circumstance attaching to his resignation.
