Mr \V. Cairns, whose deatih took place at Reefton last Saturday, was well known here, having been employed at the' Blackwater mine and battery for a number of years. A conference was held in the Miners’ Union office last Thursday evening between representatives of the Domain. Board. Football Club and Cricket Club. It was decided to appeal to the various sports bodies for donations, including the Public Tennis Club. Permission from the Internal Affairs Department is to be sought to run an art union.
