The Madrid correspondent of “The Times” states: The greatest pageant even seen in the Capital amply proving that Director De Rivera has immense popular backing passed off without incident. A procession representing the Provinces took six hours ■to pass General De Rivera at the saluting base. Africa led the column with a group’of Moors. The Jews of Albacete sent a carriage of beautiful girls bearing gifts for General De Rivera. Badjoz sent herdsmen of Burgos, its famous giants. Caceres sent a company of soldiers of the Sixteenth Century Legion. Each tableau was accompanied by bands. Dancers performed before the Presidential balcony. FLIGHT TO EVADE ARREST.
LONDON, September 14. Advices from Gibraltar state that many Spanish Freemasons from tontier towns are taking refuge at the Gibraltar Rock, so as to escape arrest for protesting against measures that are being taken against Freemasons throughout Spain in connection with the plot. . , It was reported to the Spanish Minister of the Interior on Monday night that a list was supplied to the police, who were detailed to scour Madrid in ten cabs and arrest those named. The men so arrested include Lerroux, leader of the Liberal-Republican Party. Similar orders were dispatched to the Provincial Governors, who are arresting Freemasons and many journalists with Republican sympathies.
