ROSS NOTES

ROSS, August 23
There was very heavy rain here this morning accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The lime kiln is working steadily and supplies are being distributed to local farmers.
Messrs Stewart and Chapman's mill is working full time, and is at present employing over 50 men. Football enthusiasts are looking forward to the match between Kokatahi and Ross Rugby teams, which is to take place here on Saturday.
Mrs McNabb left on Saturday last for Wellington on holiday.
Miss Evans has again been successful in winning several items at the Hokitika Competitions.
The friends of Rev. Father O’Doherty are pleased to learn that he is making rapid progress towards recovery. Mr and Mrs Pheifer and family have come to reside here.
Mr 11. McMullan, has entered the West land Hospital for treatment.
