NELSON LAND BOARD.
The meeting of the Nelson, Land Board was held on Thursday. Present: Mr A. F. Waters, Commissioner of Crown Lands (Chairman), and Messi’s W. C. Mirfin, G. Macniahon, A. R. Edwards and J. O’Regan. Application to Transfer.—Lot 1 of Section 74, Block XIII, Motupiko S.D. Area 1 rood 02.95 p. (St. Arnaud Township Extension No 1), L. E. H. Baigent to J. S. McPherson.— Approved. Section 24, Block XIV., Wangapeka Survey District. Area’9B acres, R. Drew to Elsie May Drew—Approved. Lands to be Opened.—Lots 2 to 8, town of Murchison, Extension No. I.— Resolved to offer at auction for cash at the upsets recommended by the Field Inspector. Section 3, Block VII., Mokihinui S.D. Area 371 acres. Capital value £l4O. Formerly held by T. A. Smith. —Resolved not to reoffer at present. Applications for Land. —Section 7, Block 1., Tutaki S.D. Area 301 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Capital value £9O. Half-yearly rental £1 16/-.— Applicant W. Woodcock. —Approved. 1000 acres in Blocks VI and X, Waitahu S.D. Applicant.—Edward V. Jones. —Approved subject to mining privileges being excluded and necessary surveys • being paid for by applicant. The Commissioner reported that only one application had been received for Matakitaki Settlement advertised as open for selection as one holding on Sale Plan 309. Applications closed at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August, 1928. —Resolved to approve of Mr D. W. Oxnam’s application. Section 17, Block XII, Matiri Survey District. Area 30 acres. Applicant, Michael Dwan. —Resolved to issue an Occupation License at a rental of £1 per annum subject to the stipulation that no bush or scrub on the section shall be destroyed or damaged. Part Section 94a., Block (1., Tutaki S.D. Approximate area 7 acres. Applicant, W. F. Douey—Resolved to grant an Occupation License at an annual rental of £2. The Commissioner read for the, information of the Board a general report received from the Chairman of the Deteriorated Lands Committee regarding farming generally in this district, —Resolved that the report be re> ceived and that the Chairman of the Deteriorated Lands Committee be thanked for his comprehensive and instructive report. The Board also dealt with twelve applications to transfer, 1 mortgage, three Lands to bo opened, 4 applications for laud, 1 show cause for’ forfeiture, 1 show cause, 2 forfeitures, 11 miscellaneous, 2 applications for advances and 11 applications for relief under the Deteriorated Lands Act, 1925.
