In the tennis tournament here, Misses Akhurst, Russem and Mrs. Watson have entered the semi-finals, Miss Akhurst beating the former German champion, Frau Friedlebeu and Miss Boyd beating Fraulein Krashwinkel, after a hard game. The men’s semi-finalists are: Moldhauer, Prenn (Germans), Ohta and Slcem, the latter beating Greig 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 8-6. Misses Hurst and Boyd beat Frans Galvo and Hoffman 6-2, 6-0. Mrs. O’Hara Wood and Miss Bickerton beat Frans Petery and Weihe 6-2, 6-4. The same pair in the semi-finals beat Frans Kallmeyer and Stephanas 6-3, 6-2.

VANCOUVER, August 11

In Southampton tennis contest, Bell defeated Mangin in the final of the singles 6-0, 6-3, 7-5. Lott and Doeg defeated Hawkes and Heradon (New York) in the final of the doubles 19-17, 6-4, 6-4.

National tennis tournament finals: Men’s doubles. —Cummins and Moon beat Moldenhauer and Prenn 8/6, 6/0. 6/2.

Ladies’ singles.—Miss Akhurst defeated Fraulein Aussem, 2/6, 6/0, 6/4. Women’s doubles.—-Misses Akhurst and Boyfl beat Mrs Watson ami Miss Goldsack (England), 7/5, 7/5. Mixed doubles. —Fraulein Aussem and Boyd beat. Miss Akhurst and Moon 7/5, 6/4.

It is announced that Tilden was designated as om> q,f (lie five Davis Cup members, who meet six French Davis Cup players, in a series of international matches at Philadelphia on September 6 and 8, but his participation will depend on the “professionalism” hearing on August 24. Six singles and three doubles will be played. Lacoste will not. be participating.
