MOTHER AND CHILD KILLED.

HAMILTON, August 11.
A collision between a special train to Arapuni and a car driven by Mr A. Randrup, farmer, of Hinuera, occurred at Matamata at midday. There were also two Maori women and a child in the vehicle. Mrs Ruru and her child were killed outright. The other passenger fractured her hip. Randrup sustained a severe scalp wound. The car was completely smashed. CROSSING COLLISION. PALMERSTON N„ August 12. At Shannon on Saturday afternoon, the Wellington-Auckland express crashed into a Ford five-seater car, driven by Mr J. Spooner, of Palmerston North, and containing Mrs Baker; of Shannon, as a passenger. The car was smashed to atoms. Both of the occupants were seriously injured, their condition being critical. The accident occurred at a crossing to the side of the road just north of Shannon. The view there is unobstructed, and consequently it is difficult to understand how the driver did not see the approaching train.
MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED.
INVERCARGILL, August 12.
While riding his motor cycle along Bluff Road nn Saturday afternoon, a young man, Colin Nicholson (21), a resident of Bluff, collided with a car being towed to Invercargill for repairs. Nicholson passed the towing car, but did no-t anticipate the second car and he swung inwards colliding violently with the car. The impact threw him through the windscreen; Nicholson receiving a badly cut face and head. He was removed to the hospital. It was ascertained that he received a fractured left thigh, and his condition is very serious.
CLERGYMAN INJURED.
TAUMARUNUI, August 10.
The Rev. Hemi Kiro Pou, while riding a motor-cycle along Matapura road yesterday afternoon, collided with a motor-lorry drived h.v H. Smith. .Mr Pou received injuries to the head and was conveyed to hospital. He is progressing satisfactorily.
TOURING AUCKLANDER HURT.

AUCKLAND, August 13. Cabled advice that Mr J. A. Warnock, formerly Deputy Mayor of Auckland. who is visiting Canada, was seriously injured in a street accident at Niagara Falls, Ontario, was received on Saturday. He was struck by a motor lorry and sustained a fracture of the skull. A cablegram received last night , stated Mr Warnock was conscious, but still in danger.
Mr Warnock left Auckland on June 5, and was on his way to Vancouver to join a steamer for New Zealand when the accident occurred. He was on a footpath when a motor lorry left the road ancl knocked him down.
