Mrs J. Levings, Blackball, left today on a holiday visit to Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs S. Benyon, of Nelson, who have been motoring on the West Coast, returned this morning. Mrs H. Campbell, of Blackball, will leave for Christchurch, by motor, tomorrow. Hon. H. L. Micheh M.L.C., and Mrs. Michel, were passengers by to-day’s express en route to Wellington.
Mr A. H. Carey, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, left, this morning for Christchurch.
Mr A. D. Snedden, Inspector of Awards,, left Greymouth to-day, on an official visit to Westport.
Mr J. Rase arrived from Westport yesterday to take part in the Cobden School Jubilee celebrations.
Mr J. S. Langford, Engineer to the Westland Power Board, left this morning for Wellington.
Mr F. SI Read, Land Purchase Of-, fleer to the Public Works Department, who has been visiting Westport, returned to-day. to Wellington.
Miss L. Robins, of Christchurch, who has been visiting her brother, Mr C. Robins, Public Works. Greymouth, will return on Monday.
Mrs W. S. Bean and Miss B. Bean (the Vicarage, Addington), who have been visiting South Westland and Hokitika, returned this morning. \
Bishop Brodie will arrive from Christchurch this afternoon proceeding to Hokitika to open the new additions to St. Mary’s Church.
Mr J. Thomas of the Greymouth Railway Workshops has received notice of his appointment as train examiner at Rotorua. He will leave for his new location on August 21.
Mr W. T. Tregurtha, Assistant Traffic Manager of Railways for Canterbury and Westland, who has been visiting the West Coast, returned today to Christchurcli.
A New York cablegram stated that Mr Godfrey Ludlow, the Australian violinist, and Miss Blanca Gainsborgg, the sister of his accompanist, had obtained a marriage license.

Recent visitors to South Westland include: Mr and Mrs G. E. Mannering (Fendalton), Messrs Stallard and Woller (England), Misses Breed and Silverman (Honolulu), Miss Chubb (California), Miss Scharle (Honolulu), Miss Donaldson (Ngahere), Mr Browne (Wigan), and Mrs Pitt (Ross).
Mr W. A. Gilbert, who has been a member of the staff of the Greymouth Public Trust Office for the past four years left, on transfer, for Wanganui this morning, and has been succeeded by Mr J. Mepliam of the Wanganui office. Mr Gilbert was met by the staff of the Greymouth Office last even-
ing and presented with a solid leather suit case. In making the presentation, 4 the District Manager, Mi- T. R. Saywell, eulogised Mr Gilbert’s ability and wished him a successful future career. Mr C. A. Carmine, accountant, supported Mr Saywell’s remarks.
During the six years of his service at Greymouth, Mounted-Constable J. Crowley made himself one of the most popular members of the Police Force, both with his comrades and with the public generally. He has now been promoted to take charge of the police station at Ross, and, with Mrs Crowley, left for the South this morning. He was farewelled by the Greymouth Force last evening at an enjoyable function, during which several musical items were rendered. Inspector J. A. Mathew presided, and, in asking Constable Crowley to accept, from his comrades, a handsome copy of the latest edition of Professor Garrow’s “Annotated Crimes Act,” and a pocket wallet, congratulated the guest on being placed in charge of his first station. Senior-Sergeant C. E. Roach paid a warm tribute to the reliability, efficiency, and courtesy of Constable Crowley, and endorsed the wishes expressed for his future success. Other speakers included Sergeant J. Smyth, Detective H. C. Murch, and Constables Corcoran and Hay. An appropriate reply was made by Constable Crowley, returning thanks for the good wishes and gifts, and expressing his appreciation of the courtesy always shown to him by his comrades at Greymouth. Constable Corcoran has succeeded Constable Crowley as the mounted officer at Greymouth.
