SHIPPING NOTES; The Kaiapoi sails when the bar moderates for Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, with timber. „ The Kaponga sails when the bar is workable for Wellington, carrying coal, timber and general cargo. The Kalingo is due early from Gisborne. She will load timber for Sydney. The Kaitangata arrived this morning from Wellington. She loads coal far New Plymouth, sailing to-morrow. The Kaituna is due to-morrow from New Plymouth and Wellington., She loads coal for the former port and Napier. The Kaimai arrived from Wellington this morning. She loads coal for Miramar and Wellington. She sails on Sunday. The Parera arrived yesterday afternoon from Nelson. She is expected to sail to-day with a full cargo of coal for Onakaka.
The Orepuki leaves Lyttelton on Saturday for Wellington, Nelson and Coast with general cargo. After discharge she will load coal for Tarakohe. The Regulus arrived this morning from Wellington, via Nelson and Westport, with general cargo. After discharge she loads coal for Nelson and Picton.
The Gabriella is due on Thursday next from Wanganui, to load timber for Melbourne and Sydney. The Ihumata is due on July 6 from Napier, to load timber for Sydney. The Tees leaves Waitangi to-day for Wellington and Lyttelton. The Rotomahana’s pet (a cat) nearly lost its life when the old steamer was sunk outside the Sydney Heads. Being a cat, however, and blessed with the traditional nine lives, it was saved from an untimely end by the' party sent to fire the explosive charges placed in the bottom of the ship’s hold.
