Three persons were killed and thirty were injured in renewed anti-Italian demonstrations. Hundreds of students erected barricades against the mounted police, hurled stones, seized chairs and tables from the largest restaurants in the city and used them as weapons. • The authorities first sent firemen with a hose to quell the outbreak. The police then charged the mob with fixed bayonets, and a wild rush ensued. The police were forced to fire, after all other attempts to disperse the mob had failed. Another report says that the students fired several shots. SCENES IN PARLIAMENT (Recd June-1, 11.30.a.m.), BELGRADE, May 31. Sixty were taken to hospital as the result of yesterday's rioting. Two cases proved fajal. Nine police were injured. Seventeen students and fortythree others were arrested. The darhage is estimated at £40,000. At to-day’si meeting of the* Skupshtina, the Opposition demanded a debate’on the riots. The Government refused. , The Opposition banged the desks for an hour compelling a suspension of the sitting. It is understood that the ment in replying to Italy’s demand for compensation, will counter-claim for Yugo-Slavians’ losses in Italy. SERIOUS TROUBLE FEARED. Berlin newspapers are receiving dispatches indicating there is a pessimistic feeling in- Belgrade political circles. It is feared that- Italy’s demand for moral and material’reparation will cause serious diplomatic consequences which will lead to fresh anti-Italian outbursts. The great national demonstration In Belgrade on June 3 has been forbidden.
