MORE JOBS THAN SALARY
(Special to “Star.”) AUCKLAND, May 31. “Please don’t,” said Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., Chairman of the Auckland Transport Commission yesterday, when a. witness suggested that the district licensing authority should comprise local body representatives with an independent chairman, preferably a Magistrate. Mr Barton added that for every new Board that was set up. it was suggested the Chairman should be the overworked Magistrate. Mr G. 11. Northcroft: The salary goes up. of course? Mr Barton: That has not been so noticeable.
