Exceeding the Treasury’s latest “limit of safety” by twenty millions, the House and the Senate, at conferences, have agreed upon a. tax reduction of 223,495,000 dollars. A .bill for this will be offered to the with a request that action the publication of the tax returns be rescinded. The members of both houses feel that President Coolidge will approve of the bill, which constitutes a defeat for Mr Mellon (Secretary of the Treasury) in his insistence for the revelation of the inheritance tax payment.
