INSULT TO FLAG. (Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn—Copyright.) VIENNA, May 25. A sensation was caused at Innsbruck, in the Tyrol, by two students tearing down the Italian flag which the Italian Consulate had hoisted to celebrate Italy’s entry into the War. The town is seething with excitement, and is wondering if Signor Mussolini will carry out his threat, that ■‘next time we will-ansv arthe Austrian attacks with deeds, and not words. The Italian Consul immediately demanded that the flag should be rehoisted with military honours. Ihe Mayor of Innsbruck agreed, but the populace were only excited thereby to fresh anti-Italian demonstrations and renewed disturbances. Late at night the police charged the crowd with their batons, twenty being injured, and many were arrested. The Italian Consul, at eight o’clock in the evening, ordered the flag to be finally lowered.
