PERSONAL NOTES
To-day is the Cist birthday of Queen Mary. Flags were flown from Greymouth public buildings. A Wellington Press Association telegram stated that the Governor-General has despatched the following message to the Queen on the occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday: “His Majesty’s Government and people in New Zealand join with me in submitting to Your Majesty their respectful congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of Your Majesty’s birthday.”
Misses C. and N. Tennent left this morning for Christchurch.
Mrs J. W. Hannan was an outward passenger by to-day’s express.
Mrs E. McDonnell, accompanied by her sister. Miss Roche, left by to-day s express for Christchurch.
Miss McPherson (Hawera), is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs C. McPherson, Herbert Street.

.' Mr Charles McPherson, of Herbert Street; who is an. inmate of the Grey Hospital, is'.progressing as well as can be ‘expected.
The Wesley Hockey Club, Westport, presented Mr S. Blair with a set of stainless cutlery. Mr Blau’ is to be married on Monday next.
Miss K. McCready, Cookery instructress at the Westport Technical School, has resigned, in order to join her relatives in Australia.
A Sydney cablegram stated that Mr. H. V. Dixon, general manager of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, who has resigned, is entering on 12 months’ leave before retiring.
Guests at Revington’.s Hotel include: Messrs R. Crawford Young (Dunedin), J. Hill, A. E. Stock (Christchurch), J. Bayne (Wellington), A. Thompson (Timaru), Mr., Mrs., and Master Douglas , (Ashburton). The death is announced from Melbourne of Reverend Doctor William Henry Fitchett, a Methodist Historian, and for many years principal of the Methodist College, Hawthorn. He was twice married, and had'five sons and one daughter. *
Mr. A. Scott-Robertson, who for the past four years has been travelling representative of the “Grey River Argus,” has accepted a position with Messrs Harley and Co. Ltd. He was farewelled by the directors, manager, and staff of the “Argus” yesterday, and presented with a silver-mounted oak afternoon tea tray, inscribed, and a pair of motoring gloves.
