WARATAHS AT AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, March 25
The New South Wales Rugby football team, better known as the Wara-’ tahs, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Aorangi, and were the guests of the Auckland Rugby Union at luncheon. Amongst those present were Messrs S. S. Dean (Chairman of the Management Committee of the N.Z. Rugby Union), J. Arneil (President of the Auckland Rugby Union), H. Frost (Chairman), and several members of the Auckland Rugby Union; C. E. 0. Badeley and F. W. Lucas (members of 1924 All Blacks), V. Y. Richardson (captain of the Australian cricket team at present in Auckland), and several representative and ex-representative footballers. Mr Dean welcomed the team, and congratulated it upon its success abroady and his remarks were endorsed by Mr Arneil. In his reply, Mr Shaw, manager of the team, referred to the good feeling that existed between N.S.W. and New Zealand in Rugby circles. N.S.W. had a lot to thank New Zealand for. He was confident the game would become firmly established in Victoria, and as there was every probability of Lawton settling in Brisbane, he would make a strong endeavour to re-establish the code in the Queensland capital. The team was taken for a motor run this afternoon. To-morrow morning a. civic reception will be held. The team will then attend the test cricket match at Eden Park. The party will leave for home by the Aorangi tomorrow afternoon. •
McGREGOR AS CAPTAIN ?

AUCKLAND, March 26. All the 29 All Blacks passed medical test.
At the meeting to appoint officials to be held on Wednesday, McGregor and Maurice Brownlie are likely to be appointed captain and deputy.

In the Rugby inter-service championship, the Army beat the Air Force by 18 to 6, at Twickenham.
ENGLISH TEAM’S TOUR.
LONDON, March 25
Admiral Royds, speaking at the Eastern Counties’ Rugby Union dinner, said that a strong feeling existed in the committee that the Uiiions themselves should take’ ftp the question of the New Zealand tour. Indeed, the question was at present being seriously considered. He hoped that in the event of a favourable decision, the counties and clubs would make an especial effort to see the pother Country was worthily represented in the great game. MAGPIE CLUB MEETING.
A good muster of both town and country members attended the annual meeting of the Magpie Football Club, which was held at the Gladstone Hall on Sunday morning, Mr. W. Sumner presiding. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Secertary (Mr. W. Fitzgerald) for services rendered to the Club during the past season. The following officers were elected: —President: Mr. W. T. Ogilvie; Vice-President: Mr| W. Sumner; Secretary and Treasurer: Mr. W. Fitzgerald; Club Captain: Mr. F. Wilson; Field Captain: Mr. J. I. Clarke; Vice Captain: Mr. C. Birss; ’Delegates to the W.C.R.U.: Mr. W. T. Ogilvie and Mr. J. I. Clarke; Committee: Messrs F. Wilson, J. Hibbs, H. Ogilvie, B. Gibbons, B. A. Griffith, A. Boddington, J. I. Clarke and the President and Secretary. It was resolved to nominate a senior and junior team. Annual subscriptions were fixed at 5/- and 2/6. Selection Committee: Messrs Wilson, Sumner, Fitzgerald and Clarke.
