FATAL SPIDER BITE
MELBOURNE MAN’S DEATH. Bitten on the leg by a poisonous redbacked spider while on his annual leave at Frankton recently, Mr. A. E. Cresswell, senior analyst of the Victorian Health Department, died from blood poisoning. The Government entomologist said that this species of spider was the most deadly in Victoria, and was usually found in rubbish tips and under badly ventilated houses. It had caused several deaths in recent years.
