The one day game Otago v. North Otago was played here to-day in fine but dull weather. The wicket was slow and the outfield heavy and wet. The majority of the Otago batsmen were unable to handle the conditions, and the side were all out for 153. Cavanagh (3G), Matheson (41), and McGregor (not out, 52) were the chief scorers, the remainder giving a weak exhibition. Inder (4 for 37) and Hodge (2 for 9) were the most successful bowlers. The home team replied with 178, Inder giving an aggressive display for 52, including four G’s. Robertson (27), Catto (26), Milnes (13), Maddigan (not out, 14), Hodge (13), McDonald (10) reached double figures. Cavanagh (3 for 36), Proctor (1 for 8), and Caskie (1 for 3) secured the best bowling averages. Both sides were under rep. strength.
The following players will represent Watersiders against Nelson Creek, at Nelson Creek, to-morrow (Sunday): — Wilson, Comerford, Watson, Boustridge, Kear, T. Brown, H. Brown, Inglis, Ingram, Jackson, O’Donnell, T. H. Brown. Ca.sh.more and Guider. Cars will leave the 'Watersiders’ Hall at 10 a.m.
The cricket season will close to-mor-row, when the match Star-Cobden v. United, commenced on March 11, will be completed. The scores are United 122, Star-Cobden 154. The United team will be: Merriman, Mercer, Clark, Nightingale, Baldwin, Spender, King, Jamieson, Matthews, Walton and Casey.
