Born in Aberdeenshire in 1848, and arrived in New Zealand by the ship “Silistria” in 1880. For’some time, Mr. Petrie followed the Otago goldfields, and visited Gabriel’s Gully. He settled on the West Coast in 1865, and was for many years editor and part proprietor of the “Greymouth Evening Star.” He was Mayor of Greymouth in 1887-88, and was also a member of the House of Representatives for Grey from 1882 to 1884.
Mr. Lynch was for many years a bank manager, but retired in 18.98 to enter the business of Mark Sprot & Co., of which he became principal. Mr. Lynch has taken a prominent part in the industrial life of the district, and is equally well-known for his lengthy record of public service.
Born at No Town in 1877, the son of the late Mr. Clement Parfitt. His lengthy public service includes terms as president of the Grey branch of the St. John Ambulance; Chairman of the Patriotic Society; Steward of the Greymouth Jockey Club; ten years a member of the Greymouth Borough Council; ex-Mayor, member of the Hospital Board, Fire Board, and Technical School Board of Governors.
