AT TWO O’CLOCK—

IN THE MUNICIPAL BATH. Whether George Goodall (24) and Nicholas Barbara (19) are lovers of cold water, is unknown, but they, were on the premises of the Greymputh Municipal Bath just before two o’clock this morning. It was long after hours, and, when a resident in the locality heard noises in the enclosure, and saw the electric lights being switched on, a telephone call was put through to the police. Constables Paddy and Corcoran made good time from the station to the bath, and the arrest of Goodall and Barbara follow'cd. They appeared before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., in Court to-day, and were each charged that, on February 25, at 1.45 a.m„ they were found without lawful excuse, but under circumstances not disclosing the commission of or the intention to cpmmit any other offence, in the enclosed premises ,of the Municipal Bath. They both pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant C. E. Roach, who conducted the case, outlined the story, and added that when the constables arrived, they found the doors .locked. They climbed over the fence, and discovered one of the defendants in the ladies’ dressing room, while the other was under a seat. Defendant said they went to ■ the bath for a swim, but the Senior-Ser-geant pointed out that they had neither costumes nor towels with them, and were fully dressed. The S.M. convicted defendants, and ordered them to come up for sentence if-called upon within 12 months. Goodall: Can we have: our names suppressed/ your Worship? “No,” replied the S.M.
