RESULTS AT MASTERTON. (Per Preeß 'Association.) AIASTERTON, January 23. A feature of the Alasterton Athletic Annual Sports to-day was/the meeting of F. Grose (triple title holder) and T. Oakley, in the cycle events. Each won heats in the mile, Oakley in 2.14 2-5, and Grose in 2.14. In the final Grose fell half a lap from-home, and Oakley fell a hundred yards further on. Oakley scored a brilliant victory in the one and a-half miles invitation scratch race, beating Grose by 30 yards in 3.25 3-5, and again in the two miles wheel race, the Alasterton boy beating Grose by four lengths, in 4.39 1-5. Oakley also won the three miles for the Walker and Hall Cup, in 7.3 3-5. Grose never started in this event. • E. Keskinen (decathlon winner), with four inches handicap, put the shot 42ft Bin, beating P. Munro by one inch. E. Hoskins (B£yds) beat C. H. Jen-* kins by inches in the 100yds, in 9 4-5, while J. F. Fleming headed off Jenkins in 12secs for the Messenger Memorial Shield over 120yds. F. Williams (12) beat Fleming (4) and E. K. Eastwood (8) in the 220yds in 22secs ; and Eastwood (12) won the 440yds in 50 1-5. R. Lander won the 120yds hurdles in 16secs, and Miss Swinburne won the ladies’ 75yds in 9 2-ssecs.
