DAMAGE IN VICTORIA. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Aneooiatlon? MELBOURNE, January 17. Bush fires caused by the intense heat which ruled in the past week, are raging in many country districts and excessive damage was done. Large forces of volunteers are fighting hard to hold the outbreaks in check, out continual changes of wind in some cases frustrated their efforts. In the Gippsland district, many houses were destroyed. It is stated that the township of Flynn, and Flynn’s Creek, are in danger of being wiped out. The timber districts are suffering severely.
